The Provisional View paintings are a return to optimism and to imposing my desire for beauty onto my mundane surroundings. Exaggerated color, swirling skies and peripheral details still focus attention on the central “void” of the sky, but with less chance of one flying away into that sky space. One is held within the paintings by the circular compositions and repelled by the refusal of depth at their core.
